I use the freebie oulook express backup program. when I tried to reload the
files after reinstalling it was very confusing. my newsgroup mesages were
not there. I just got the new quick backup version.
question: can this program work for reloading all the settings and newsgroup
messages after reinstalling the hard drive?

OE Quick Backup (OEQB; http://www.oehelp.com/OEBackup/default.aspx) saves
only the following data:

Address Book - .WAB file. This will also be saved in each Identity's backup
folder.

Registry Files*:

Internet Accounts Manager subkey - IAM.reg
Identities subkey - AllIdentities.reg
Address Book (WAB) subkey - AddressBook.reg

Message Stores - all DBX files use by Outlook Express. Each Identity will
have it's dbx files stored in separate folders.

cf. http://www.oehelp.com/OEBackup/oeqb.htm

[I wouldn't bother trying to backup and restore newsgroups myself.]
