Outlook Express 6

I am using Windows XP Home, and my mail reader is outlook 6. In my security
settings I unchecked the "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened
that could potentially be a virus" and it has worked for 2 yrs. Now all of a
sudden I cannot open certain file types in outlook, so I go to my security
settings, and now its unselectacble. What I mean is the box is checked and I
cannot uncheck it. It grey.

Any thoughts on what happened, or better yet, what I can do.???
