Outlook Express 6 failure after downloading SP1 & Windows Updates

Due to an antivirus program upgrade, it became necessary to install Windows
XP Service Pack 1. This was followed the following day by a large number of
Windows Updates for SP1.

Now, when sending/receiving messages, Outlook Express 6 pauses indefinitely
trying to connect. If I close OE6, MSIMN.EXE is still running in the
Processes list in Windows Task Manager and it is impossible to end this
process. It is also impossible to start OE6 again.

I have an HP Pavilion ze4120s running XP Home edition. OE6 was working fine
until the Windows Updates for SP1 were installed. Any ideas?

Problem resolved. OE6 was being blocked by the new antivirus software.
Changing the firewall settings allowed OE6 to function normally.
