Outlook Express 6.0 - messages duplicated upon send

I have several desktops on this computer. For some reason one of them has an
issue with sending mail. Every mail sent from the address is received in
duplicate. I've verified that using mail directly from webmail doesn't
duplicate the sent mail. I can't find any setting that allows me to quit
duplicating messages. People receiving messages from me are getting a bit
angry about it.

Any suggestions?

Any chance the account settings were duplicated? Duplicate account settings
has proven to be a fairly common problem. The other common cause for email
duplication is an Anti Virus application setup to scan email, something you
don't need or want on your PC (Anti Virus applications, yes, but not their
email scanners, as most cause more data loss and system downtime that the
malware they're supposed to keep out).

Thank you, it did duplicate somehow. Would you believe that is the one thing
I hadn't checked.

Thanks for including the information regarding removing anti-virus scanning
and why it isn't needed. That was going to be my next question.

Assuming Outlook Express (not Windows Mail)...

1. OE Tools | Accounts | Mail | [account] | Properties | Advanced | Break
apart messages larger than... (uncheck/disable).

2. Disable email scanning (outgoing and incoming) by your anti-virus
application.

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email
