Outlook export to PST file

B

Bob

I am running outlook 2000 with SP3 on Windows XP SP2.

I am trying to archive my old email by creating an PST file using the
import/export utility within outlook.

I am able to run through the wizard ok, but when I click on 'finish' I
recieve the pop-up 'Item not found'.

This happens no matter how many emails are in the folder.

What could the problem be?

Regards
Paul Roberts.

The right way to make a full backup is simply to close Outlook and make a copy of the existing PST file.

Thank you.

I am currently using Exchange 2003, I only want to use the export to
archive old emails.

Since you're trying to archive from an Exchange mailbox, why don't you use Outlook's built-in AutoArchive feature?

I only want to export specfic emials not just a whole load before a
specific date.

Firstly, even though you are posting through google groups PLEASE quote the
post you are replying to. It keeps the thread intact.

Just create a new Personal Folders File (in Outlook - file-new) and copy the
emails you want into it. Then with outlook closed, just copy that pst file.

Never export to or import from a PST.

Create your new PST with FIle>New>Personal Folders File. After it has been
created, create in it the folders you want with File>New>Folder. Then
select all the data in the source folder that you want to copy and either
right-click and drag it to the destination folder or choose Edit>Copy to
Folder.
