When I run "outlook.exe /regserver" I get the following
error message:
The command line argument is not valid, verify the switch
you are using.

The same switch works fine for all other office
applications.

What shall I do?

What version of Outlook? Even though that switch is listed in the
Outlook Help some versions of Outlook don't install a .SRG file that
is needed for that switch to work at all. So the help is wrong. Use
the Detect and Repair option if you are using Outlook 2000 or later.

I am using office xp professional. I have done the
repair, but I still get the same error message when doing
outlook.exe /regserver. Is there a way of installing
that .SRG file manually.

No, if the .SRG file isn't installed it's not available. In those
cases you just use either Detect and Repair in the Help menu or the
Repair option on Office in Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
