Outlook/Exchange Out of Office Assistant

I have enabled the out of office message in my account,
however, it only seems to respond to messages that
originate within the office (i.e. emails with a domain
managed by the Exchange server).

All external emails do not get processed using the out of
office message I created. Does any one have an idea of
what I need to do to get this working for all external
messages?

By default, Exchange does not enable replies to outside addresses. This can
only be changed by your Exchange admins and I'd wager they won't change that
since if can result in mail loops.
 
please, please tell me how you got the Out Of office to
work the first time--I can't find how to do it!!!!
