outlook email subject line disappeared

I can see the subject line in my inbox. I can also see it in the preview
pane at the bottom of the inbox, but when I open the email I can't see the
subject. I can't even see the label for the subject. The same thing happens
when I create a new email. This has only happend in the last week after
more than 2 years of using Outlook 2000 without any problems.

Any ideas?
