Outlook E-Mail Editor ERROR

I hit reply to an e-mail and received an error message stating that although
Word is listed as my e-mail editor, it is unavailable, not installed, or not
the same version as Outlook. I had replied to several e-mails, in the same
Outlook session, before that error message appeared without any problems.
Yesterday I downloaded a .dot file into the program files>microsoft
office>templates folder. Could that be the problem? I removed it, but I
still receive the same error message. Please help!

Repairing puts everything back to as it originally was after first
installation, correct? I have a custom toolbar installed for my job, and I
don't know how to get it back if it's lost.

Besides, the guy who started the other thread about this problem says he
repaired and the error message continued to pop up.

Locate normal.dot and rename it to .old when Outlook and Word are closed.
Then first load Word and then load Outlook and try again.

how do I locate normal.dot?

No, as I said; reinstalling it doesn't affect any settings.

Locate normal.dot and rename it to .old when Outlook and Word are closed.
Then first load Word and then load Outlook and try again.

You can enable Windows to show extensions by Control Panel-> Folder Optios->
tab View-> uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
