Outlook doesn't propaget permissions

Good Morning!

We have common mailboxes which are shared with multiple people. They
just are connected through the add mailbox feature so they see this
mailbox in Outlook.

The problem I am having is this. When someone else comes on board and
we grant them owner rights to the common mailbox the rights dont
propagate down to all the dozens of folders. We grant rights to the
'inbox' but everything underneath that no permissions are propagating.
Is this normal? Seems a little odd to me.

thanks!

Yes, that's normal. If you want to cascade permissions, use the free PFDavAdmin tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=635BE792-D8AD-49E3-ADA4-E2422C0AB424. It can manage mailbox folder permissions, as well as public folder permissions.

Or, grant permissions to all the folders once and for all with a security group. THat way, when personnel changes occur, all you have to change is the group membership.
