Outlook does not close when exited out of

Whenever I close out of Outlook 2000, it tells me "Please
wait while Microsoft Outlook Exits" and Outlook never
quits. I have to go into the Task Manager and kill the
outlook task. Does anybody else have the same problem?

You're running another program that is interfering with Outlook.

I did some investigation and found that the problem is mailbox (Exchange server) dependent. If I use any mailbox other than mine, outlook closes without any problem. At least, on my machine, the problem is not related to 3rd party software

Does anyone have any solution to this problem. I cannot rebuild my mailbox because I don't have access to our company's exchange server

Microsoft addresses this in the following knowledge base
article. The only way to obtain the hotfix mentioned in
this article seems to be to contact Microsoft.I wasn't
able to find a download for this. I have submitted a
request for this hotfix using my Product I.D. and am still
waiting for a response from M.S.

I found one (possible) work-around to this problem. Don't close Outlook
using the "x" (top-right corner). Instead, use File->Exit and Log Off.
Works for me.

Hope this helps.

Contact Microsoft with the Product Key for your Outlook
version and they will send you a link where you can
download the hotfix
