when an application (outlook) is running, it shows up on the start menu
taskbar. however, outlook disappers from start menu taskbar when the program
is minimized. it appears as "running" on the applications tab of task
manager. when i launch outlook again it immediatley appears the same as
before i minized the window which means that it disappeared but didn't
close. can someone please provide direction.

thanks,

Might you have applied the add-on that minimizes Outlook as an icon (as
opposed to the usual task box) in the system tray? If so, it'll appear as a
single icon somewhere to the left of the clock at the right end of the tray.
