outlook delete problem

When I try to perminently delete an email from my delete
folder, I get the following message: "The message
interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
pesists, restart Outlook. I have done that and I still
have the problem. I have more than 5,000 items in my
delete file and I would like to see them gone for good.
Suggestions.

You can use the Empty Deleted Items under Tools->Options->Other->Advanced.
I set mine to not prompt since what I put in the trash always needs to be
taken out.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

If you are unable to empty the deleted items folder, you may have some bad entries in the folder. The following Knowledge Base article describes how to use the Inbox Repair Tool to sort that out
