Outlook default email client

I am using WXP,Prof. Have used OE 6 in the past. I installed Outlook 2000 to
try this program. Now want to go back to OE 6. When I try to import using the
OE import wizard, I get the warning that Microsoft Outlook needs to be the
default mail client. When I go to internet options, programs, it shows OE as
the default mail client. When I try to change it to O 2000 (Microsoft
Outlook), it will not take it. What do I do to get e-mails transfered from
Outlook to Outlook Express?

I do not have the answer but hope you get reply. I installed Office 2003
and Outlook tried to take over my email but would not auto configure the ISP
settings. Also it would not show newsgroups. Further I cannot get my
address book to show up in Word to allow enevolpe to auto address. I have
read almost 50 knowledge base articles with conficting info from registery
tweaks to importing , exporting etc. I am very disappointed with the lack
of support. If you do not have any other Office programs, why not delete
Outlook and reboot. Try MS knowledge base 318378.
