Outlook Crashes when linking to Shared SharePoint Contacts

S

Sean

When attempting to "Link to Outlook" in WSS on our corporate Intranet
we have some users who are experiencing the problem when they click
that icon on WSS website it attempts to add the folder to Outlook and
Outlook subsequently crashes saying it encountered an error and
requires a restart. It restarts itself, the SharePoint folder is
there, but when you try to open it, Outlook crashes again with the same
error.

Any ideas? Outlook 2003, WSS 2.0.

And the exact error would be?
What is logged to the Event Viewer?

Sadly 1000 Event aren't much of a help to me but Micorosft is always
interested in these so they can classify them so keep sending those error
reports when the prompt comes up! ;-)

Are all users experiencing this or just some? When these users log on to a
machine of a user who doesn't experience this does it still occur? Also test
the other way around; let a user who is not experiencing this issue on
his/her own computer log on to a the computer of someone who is. This helps
determing whether it is a computer or a user issue.

When attempting to "Link to Outlook" in WSS on our corporate Intranet

Outlook subsequently crashes saying it encountered an error and

error.

Any ideas? Outlook 2003, WSS 2.0.

Just a quick update for any one who might find it useful. I found that
a deletion of the Mail Profile on the computer (and subsequently the
complete rebuild) of that Profile seemed to fix the problem. I also
did a complete uninstall of Outlook 2003 (the one that came with my
version of Office) and re-installed using the version provided with SBS
2003.
