I recently moved my .pst to a shared folder so that I can access e-mail from
other computers on my home LAN. Now, when I try to do any of the following,
outlook crashes:
-save a new/modified contact (but it does manage to save it)
-click on a "mailto" url oin a web page
-try to find an e-mail address by typing a partial name/address in "to"
field of a message composition and clicking on the check names button
-click on a contact and select "new message to contact"
I did find another issue* after moving the folder that leads me to believe
that Outlook is still looking for some data in the old location, but I have
managed to fix that.
I have already tried repairing Outlook from the add/delete programs tool,
but that didn't do it.
I did buy this computer used, and have occasionally found strabge settings
in the registry (yeah I know - shoulda wiped it clean, but it's too late for
that, & I'm not going back).
*Outlook couldn't do a "find all>related messages..." because it didn't know
where the drafts folder was. I fixed it by saving an e-mail to drafts, which
must have updated some registry value.
