Outlook Crash > Rebuild

I

Ian

My Outlook (2002) recently decided it had had enough and
crashed. It didn't recognise any profiles as being present
and so I created a new one. This also entailed rebuilding
my 5 e-mail accounts. I did manage to salvage some
information from a .pst file and recovered some e-mails.
My new main folder is called "Outlook Today - Personal
Folders", and I have the copies of my e-mail sub-folders.
However, I also appear to have a second folder called
simply "Personal Folders" which has duplicate sub-folders
to the main, ie Calender, Contacts, Inbox, Sent Items etc.
Presumably this appeared after I restored the .pst file.
My problem is that all new mail goes into the main
folder "Outlokk Today..." but all my other details such as
calender and contacts (which I hotsync from my Palm) are
in the alternate "Personal Folders". I've been able to
cut&paste the contacts but I can't seem to move the
Calender events and now my Palm won't sync with either of
the Calender folders.

Should I try and work with the original "Personal Folders"
folder but then I can't delete the new one "Outlook Today -
Personal Folders" or is there a way of getting my
Calender in the new main floder to be updated with the old
Calender AND work with the Palm hotsync??

Thanks for any help,

B

How did you do this "restore"?

What happens when you try to move the Calendar events?

Your Palm will sync with whatever PST is selected as your delivery location
and that PST will always show up as "Outlook Today". If you change the
delivery location to the second Pwersonal Folders, then stop and restart
Outlook, that PST will then be called Outlook Today and your Palm will sync
with it. You can try that if you want. Click Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next
and choose the other PST in the "Delivery new e-mail to the following
location" drop-down at the bottom left.

Brian,

Thanks for your reply. The restore I refer to was from the
menu>import/export>another .pst file option. I don't appear to have the
option to Move the Calender items as the Move option is "greyed" out. Your
final suggestion looks favourite and I'll give that a go.

Thanks again for your help.
Ian.

Never import a PST unless you LIKE losing data.

You can't move the Calendar folder in the current delivery location. Open
the calendar, switch to a category view and use CTRL-A to select all the
items. Then right-click any item and choose Move. Specify a calendar
folder in the destination PST.
