Outlook Contact birthdays don't show on Calendar

I cannot get my Contact birthdays to show up on my Calendar. I've tried
importing my contacts data into Outlook a number of times and it shows up in
my list of Contacts, but the birthdays don't show up on the Calendar like
they are supposed to. Is there something else I have to do to get them to
show? I'm using Outlook 2003.

What format are the contacts in when you import them? Importing items is a
sure fire method to lose attachments to items such as the calendar
(birthdays, anniversaries) and to the Journal.

If they are in a .pst file, simply open the .pst file and move the contacts
from the old .pst file to the new one and your connections will be
maintained.

My understanding of the issue is: After importing a contact to Outlook
2003, his birthday will not be shown in Calendar as an appointment. If I
have misunderstood anything, please let me know.

Based on my research and tests, I regret to say that Outlook will not add
the birthday reminder automatically after importing the contact. So we need
to re-enter the birthday so that it will be added to the calendar again.
Another workaround is also to export the calendar folder when exporting the
contacts.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this designed feature has caused you. I
personally think what you would like to implement is very reasonable.
Outlook is supposed to check the contact's birthday and relate it to the
calendar after importing them. I will forward your suggestion to our
develop team so that they may improve this by an update patch to be
released in the future or in the next version of the product.

Also, I suggest you offer the idea to the following link:

Yes, that is the issue. I exported my Contacts to Excel, used Excel to
populate the birthdays (and anniversaries), then tried importing back into
Outlook Contacts. I got the dates to import but now they don't show up on
the Calendar. It would be nice if there was a way to "refresh" the Calendar
so that it picks up the imported birthdays and anniversaries. Thanks for the
reply though.

I am sorry for any inconvenience brought by the by-design feature. The only
workaround I can find is to modify his birthday, then modify back and then
save then contact again. So his birthday alert will be added in to calendar
again.

I have already forwarded your suggestion to our develop team. Also, I
suggest you add your feedback to the following link:

Apparently, this is still an issue. Rather than modifying and then
re-modifying the date, I found I could modify any field - I added a Title
(Miss, Mrs., etc) - and saved the contact. This process did add the birthday
to the calendar.
