I have Vista & Outlook 2007 & Verizon DSL. Thru Outlook I have always been
able to access Hotmail. With OutLook connector I can not longer access
hotmail via outlook connector. However it works at my office (I ahve a
laptop). Also it my 2nd PC does not work either.

So any ideas on how to get it working?

Sure. Here is the report:Outlook Connector Version 12.0.6423.1000

Account: (e-mail address removed)
Session timed out. Automatically re-signed in at 9/30/2009 9:31:05 AM

Mail:

Calendar:

Contacts:
Errors :

Then eventually (it is in the above state for many minutes) it returns the
following additional error message:
Time: 9/30/2009 9:33:07 AM
Error in Mail
Network operation failed

Another behavior that happened yesterday is that a large number of outlook
hotmail tasks showed up in the Outlook send/receive dialog box. I had to
cancel all to get outlook working properly (I use it with my work email
account).

However there are a number of other things I did to test. I put my PC in the
DMZ and shutoff my firewall & anti-virus. It did not work. I also ran a port
test (i am using Verizon DSL) from GRC.com and found some ports were opening
and shuting each test.

The werid thing is that sometimes the connector seems to work (1% of thew
time). I say seems to work because it is so infrequent and short-lived as to
make me wonder.

I am able to use the direct POP connection to Hotmail using port 587 rather
then port 25.
However I really need to use the Outlook Connector and given what I have
learned it seems I need a way to tell the OutLook Connecto to use Port 587
for outgoing email rather then port 25.
Does anyone know how to do that?
I am guessing that MS must change the connector to allow this but until then
maybe there is a regedit change to do it.

The Outlook Connector does not use either ports 25 or 587. It's not a POP
connector at all. Only POP uses one of those ports. Off-hand, I don't know
what port Outlook Connector uses.

Brian, that is good information.

I think I need to find out what port Outlook Connector uses so I can see if
it is blocked by my ISP (Verizon DSL).

Any other ideas?
