Outlook Connector does not install or work

John

Forgive me if this has been answered; can't find solution.

I'm running Outlook 2007 on Vista. When I install (or uninstall/
reinstall) Outlook Connector, nothing happens. It tells me it
installed, but when I open Outlook I do not see the prompt. There is
no indication that connector is running. Now that the new hotmail
regulations have begun, I cannot use Outlook to check it anymore and
this is frustrating. My problem doesn't seem to be common, although
both of my computers (different OS versions) are doing it.

The only speculation is that on these computers, I set up Outlook by
copy/pasting folders into the place where folders are stored. I think
my old machine ran connector fine, but that may have been Office 2003

Thanks,
John

You don't see the Outlook Connector menu?
You can add a Hotmail account via;
Outlook Connector-> Add a New Account...
I set up Outlook by
copy/pasting folders into the place where folders are stored
Overwriting existing pst-files in the process? Then it could be that your
mail profile is damaged.
See if it works when creating a new mail profile;

Is the connector listed in Tools, Accounts, Add? If you add it, does it
work? If not, you'll need to make a new profile as copy/pasting the folders
will mess up the profile.

Many thanks, Diane! This worked. I had tried using Microsoft's
instructions to reconfigure the account, which did not work. I deleted
my hotmail accounts and uninstalled Connector (using connector
install, not control panel), then I got the add > connector option and
it worked fine. Eight months of agony ... I knew usenet (via proxy in
my case) was where I should have gone all along.
