Outlook ckecks files for errors

Hi, About 50% of the time Outlook thinks it has been closed improperly and it
hasn't been. I know for a fact that I closed it using the "X" in the upper
right hand corner. This wouldn't be much of a problem except it takes at
least 15 mins for Outlook to check the file and it hogs all the resources, I
can't even surf the net or open a program. I'd apprecaite any suggestions in
helping Outlook realize it isn't crashing.

O/S - Windows XP Pro (SP3)
Outlook is part of Office 2003 (SP3)
2.4Ghz; 1GB of Ram

Thanks

If the startup scanner is unable to fix the issues, try to run the separate
scanpst.exe instead to check it for errors;
http://www.msoutlook.info/question/77

Continue to run the scanner against your pst-file until it find no more
errors to fix.

If this issue still happens then, it is likely that you have an Outlook
shutdown issue where either the processes crashes upon shutdown or keeps
running with no more visible Outlook window. To troubleshoot this see;
