Morning,

I have Exported my Windows Mail to Microsoft Exchange multiple times this
morning, but I can't seem to find the .PST file it made. I have checked for
*.PST in all indexed locations as well as all the hard drives in this
computer. It made me create a profile (lvsysop) and I have searched the
same locations for 'lvsysop' and "lvsysop.pst", but I can't find the file
Windows Mail made. I've also checked for "outlook' and "Outlook.pst".

Did it make a .PST file and if not what file did it make? It sure looked
like it was making something as it scanned through the folders in Windows
Mail.

Appreciate any help to locate this file.

Thanks

..Chip..

In Windows Mail, exporting to Microsoft Exchange format, creates an
Outlook.pst file located in
C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\

\AppData is normally hidden

To show it, you'll have to change it in Windows Explorer:
Organize - Folder & Search Options - View
(.) Show hidden files and folders

Thanks Dave.

When I look in the specified folder, I have only a Outlook.NK2 file (62k),
no .PST.

I don't understand why I can't find the file.

Thanks.

Outlook is installed and configured. I was using both WM and Outlook for
different accounts, but I can't get the WINMAIL imported on my new machine
so I decided to just use Outlook, creating multiple profiles. On the old
machine it made me create the new profile for Outlook before it would make
the .PST which it looks like it makes, but I can't find it!

Thanks.

Exporting from Windows Mail to Outlook causes Windows Mail to place the
exported data in the .PST file attached to the Outlook profile in use at the
time of the export. It should already be there, no work on the Outlook end
required other than to open Outlook using the Outlook Profile selected when
you did the export.

Thanks, the problem I was having was that I could not find the .PST. I found
it and was able to get those messages imported into Outlook. Both profiles
in Outlook working as designed, although I do have some duplicates to delete
:)

FWIW, you should NEVER use Outlook's .PST file Import or Export functions.
The Import function, in particular, usually corrupts the Outlook profile in
use which causes a variety of totally bizarre problems, plus, it loses the
following information:

1. Custom Forms
2. Custom Views
3. Connections between contacts and activities
4. Received dates on mail
5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar
6. Journal connections
7. Distribution Lists

To avoid all this, merely OPEN the .PST file using 'File|Open|Outlook Data
File'. To backup all your Outlook data, simply close Outlook and use
Windows to make a copy of your .PST file.
