Can anyone tell me why in Outlook XP, attachments are
shown in the header and not in the body of the email? I
have the email in HTML format, but the attachment now
appears in the header so I can't drag it out of the email
or delete it so I can keep the email as a reference

You should be able to right-click the name of the attachment and select
either Save As or Remove from the popup menu, if you open the message
all the way. If you just preview it in the Preview Pane, right-clicking
should give you the Save As option (but Remove is grayed out on my
screen).
