Outlook and home network

Outlook 2007 / Vista Home Premium

I have Outlook on my desktop and laptop. I can connect both PCs to my
home network. Is it possible to set up both PCs to access one pst?
I have the pst on a HD visible on both PCs. I just want to eliminate
identical pst's on both PCs.

Network access of a pst is not supported and can lead to corruption. If you
choose to do it (it is possible) you can only use the pst with one outlook
at a time.

If your email provider supports imap it's a better solution.

Please explain the imap being a better solution. A Google search shows
how to create accounts and (I think) backup files.

In a nutshell, IMAP is a bit like Exchange but without the ability to share
calendars and tasks.
All the email folders are held on the IMAP mail server (and you can create
as many folders as you like on the server, within your quota), so each
instance of Outlook SYNCHRONISES rather than downloading emails locally and
holding the Sent items locally.

So, IMAP does not transfer or sync Calendars/Contacts. Is there a way
to sync pst's on separate PCs - email/calendar/contacts/notes?
