Outlook and Corporate email

I am trying to use Outlook 2007 to sync with my work email the same way I
have my Treo set up but they say it is not possible. This is the response:

Since we are set up with an Exchange 2003, you can only use Outlook if you
are connected to our domain (network). I did a quick search about Outlook
2007, but didn't see any features that are similar to Active Sync on your
PDA. Active Sync is a feature that we can enable on each user's account, so
that he/she may use a mobile device to connect to his/her e-mail account. If
you have an article that suggests something similar to Active Sync can be
done with Outlook 2007, then please forward it to me and I'll look into it.

Any thoughts?

Outlook 2007 will certainly work with Exchange 2003.

If you are logging into the domain on the corporate network, it will work
easily. I had Outlook 2007 connected to Exchange 2000 for a few months before
my transition to Exchange 2007.

If you are not on the domain but you can access the exchange server from the
internet for Outlook Web Access (OWA), then they can enable a feature called
RCP. RCP allows you to use the outlook client over the HTTPS protocol. In
Exchange 2007, they call this Outlook Anywhere.

There have been instances where people have had problems getting the Outlook
2007 client to connect to Exchange 2003 over RCp and the following KB article
has resolved it for most people.

I sync my PDA via ActiveSync with Outlook 2003 (Exchange mailbox for
delivery) at work and Outlook 2007 (non-work POP account) at home. It works
fine. Both systems are Windows XP. I also use OL 2007 on Vista at home and
that one uses WIndows Mobile Device Center. Frankly, I haven't been brave
enough to try synching my PDA with XP on one end and Vista on the other.
Maybe I'll just make a backup of the PDA on the XP machine and try the Vista
machine to see what happens.
