outlook address book, select columns and sorting ?

N

nl

Hello everyone.

I am trying to know if it is possible to change the address book
columns and sort.

example, to see our contact list and select from it, we can click on
address book. BUT, the first column is NAME, then business phone,
office, title, company ...etc. and it is sort and search through the
NAME column.

If i have 5 vendors contact under example INSIGHT, i want to type in
the search field INSIGHT, then the list sorted by company will show me
all contacts !!!

am i clear enough ? i don't know. But this is a real problem in our
business, people hate that part finding in the contacts.
Is there a way to get it work like i want ?

thanks for helping.

You neglected to post your Outlook version.
The column configuration cannot be configured. Sorting can.

Russ,

From what I see on one of my posts you replied to yesterday, you can't sort
by any column...you can only select the name order. Correct? I really liked
the ability in OE to sort by any column you had selected for your address
book. Not sure why this would not be allowed in Outlook unless it has
something to do with Exchange Server.

It has to do with the transports used to display the Contact data in the
Outlook Address Book. In all versions of the Outlook Address Book, the only
sorting options are by First Name field or the File As field.
OE uses the Windows Address Book as its address book engine. It permits
sorting by the column header.

The Outlook Address Book was never intended to support robust sorting or
filtering options. Those features have been incorporated into the Contacts
Folders instead.
