I have a client who is running Outlook '97 on all their
PCs connected to an Exchange Server 5.5 system.
One of the computers has now decided (with absolutely NO
changes made anywhere on the PC or the server) that after
Outlook has loaded, it will not send the first e-mail that
is created. The full procedure / symptoms are as follows:
Launch Microsoft Outlook
Create a new e-mail or contact
Click Send (or save for contact)
Nothing happens. The message is not sent. In addition,
none of the menu items work nor do the toolbar icons. The
only way to close the message/contact is to click on the X
in the top right.
After this, Outlook behaves itself perfectly until it is
closed down and restarted. Then the whole issue starts
again.
Finally, if the PC is left alone for a while (say 45
minutes, enough for power saving to activate) the problem
also occurs.
I have completely un-installed Office '97 from the system
and re-installed, with Service Pack 2.
I have removed the mail profile and re-created it from
scratch.
