Outlook 2k suddenly stopped working

OL2k suddenly stopped working on a W2k ws. The message is "This application
must be installed to run. Please run setup from the location where you
originally installed the application". When attempting to install the O2k
program, the following message is received. "This patch package cound not be
opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the app vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer
patch package". This is our original installation disk.

What the heck is going on?
