outlook 2007

when outlook is conducting a send/receive, the rest of my computer comes to a
halt. if i am using a word document, it stops with the typing until the
send/receive is finished. VERY annoying!! any suggestions? i have 4gb Ram
and a 3.7 ghz processor. also, can you get rid of the " windows installing "
message that appears with every email?
 
Mine too - what's up with this? - I even get a white screen for a few
seconds???
