We recently got our office computer back up and running and tried to use outlook like we have for the last three years. We inputted all the server, port, POP information like we always have, and it matches our other user who uses almost the same email address. All the settings and functions are exactly the same, however we cannot send emails through outlook. The test functions work and we can send test emails to other people but when we send them to ourselves they dont come into out look, only our online server. Does anyone have any idea what we could do to fix this, its getting really frusterating!!

Thanks for reading!!

almost the same email address? Please be more specific. As long as the address is the same after the @, then it should work.

If you can send and see it sending, then your problem is most likely the receive settings. It sounds as if something has changed and you are unaware of it. Contact who provides you email service for those settings. That would be where I start.

We have used the same emails on other computers in outlook and they have worked. Today we uninstalled and reinstalled windows. We have other users that have there own emails with the same server that are working just fine. We cannot seem to find any differences between accounts.

Today we uninstalled and reinstalled windows.

This does not compute. What do you mean uninstalled and reinstalled Windows? Windows does not get "uninstalled" in any aspect. It can be over written by the Windows Installation. It never gets uninstaled. If this is the case and say, for example, you had a virus then this virus may not have been removed.

If you have cleared Outlook from the registry and reinstalled it, something else is going on.

When you hit the send/receive button, do you get errors? If so, what are they?

If you don't get errors with the receive portion of the process, then the settings are correct and there is nothing on the server that is considered "new". Outlook, by default is designed to remove messages from the server when it checks. If you have another outlook client open with the same email settings and the option is not selected to leave messages on the server, that client will get it and you will never see it in another machine.

Also, if you have the web client open at the time, you may be checking the messages. Once you open the message via the web client, the server no longer believes it to be new and thus, may not trigger Outlook to download it.

Perhaps it is how you are troubleshooting instead of an actual problem. Email can be tricky with many clients open at the same time.

We didnt get any errors when we hit send/ receive. It was very strange, so we downloaded thunder bird mail and used that temporarily. Out look is working now in a way, but its working improperly. Im not in that office today but i will be later and will hopefully get it all figured out. thankyou for your input and your advice i really appreciate it!

So, when you click the Send/Receive button, you get the Outlook send/receive progress box that shows the process? This box does not show any errors? Even if you click the Errors tab, nothing shows there?

If this is the case, then your Outlook is working properly. There is something else that is intercepting your mail to the machine. As I stated in a previous post, there is another outlook configured to check mail and not leave them on the server or the webmail is being checked.

If you have ANY other mail client that is running during these tests with that particular address, close them. Make sure that no program is running that will accomplish this, anywhere.

The only other test I can think of would be to configure a GMail account and configure outlook to check mail. This will test Outlook function to be proper. If you can send/receive the gmail email, then there is something as described in the previous posts as faulty.

Yes we have tried configuring other emails in outlook and they dont work either, but work in outlook on different computers. There are no errors when we click the error tab in the send/recieve tab. We have figured out a temporary fix until we figure out the main problem and hopefully we will be able to soon.

Thanks,

It sounds as if you haven't cleaned Outlook entries in the system well enough when the software was removed.

If you have done all of this and Outlook still doesn't work, reformat your computer.
