Outlook 2007 SMTP - cannot send

I've been using the Outlook 2007 beta since a few weeks. Worked fine.
Last week I started getting problems sending e-mail (receiving still
works just fine). I get this error:

Task '(e-mail address removed) - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC78) : 'Cannot
send the message. Verify the e-mail address in your account properties.
The server responded: 535 AUTHENTICATION FAILED'

I have tried everything... even installed Outlook again, to no avail.
If I use Outlook Express or Thunderbird I can send mail without any
problems.

My ISP is Compuserve, smtp.cs.com. Authentication is required for this
smtp server, I have checked these settings with Compuserve customer
service and they are correct. I can use Compuserve webmail without any
problems.

Does anyone have ANY idea what is happening? I would really like to
keep using Outlook 2007 but obviously not being able to send e-mail is
a BIG problem! Should I go back to my old Outlook version???

Look carefully at the settings for the Outgoing server and verify that the box
to use SPA is clear.
