Outlook 2007 slow checking/receiving email

Outlook 2007 is very slow and often tends to hang when checking email in
comparison to Windows Mail in Vista (same POPS). Windows Mail seems to check
3-4 POPS instantly while Outlook 2007 can take 10 seconds or so or even time
out at times.

Is there anything to check or change to speed up send/receive in Outlook
2007? I searched here and only found info on mapped drives which I do not
have.

TIA

there is something to speed it up, but if there is I would be
interested also.

always be much slower. If you are using a virus or 3rd party antispam
scanner on incoming mail it will slow it down even more.

There isn't too much you can do to speed it up, other than disable email
scanning and

That answers that, thanks Diane. I do use webroot spy sweeper but I think I
will leave it be.
