I have the option set to save sent mail in a folder, but instead the sent
mail appears in the inbox, not the "Sent" folder. Why? It used to work but
hasn't since March.

Windows Vista, Outlook 2007. I set up IMAP to get emails. Is it possible that
because I have not archived any mail that this is the reason for the failure?

Sorry, I did not answer your question. I have the mail set to save to a
"Sent" folder under the inbox for that account. BTW I have 8-10 mail accounts.

I don't think its related to archiving unless you have a lot of messages
(thousands) in the folder you are moving it to and normally the failure will
cause the message not to be saved in the imap account. I'd try disabling it
and using the local sent folder then after a reboot set it back to the imap
folder. If that doesn't help, try making a new folder to use for sent items
and see if it works correctly.

Also - if this is a GMAIL account its something goofy with gmail.
