Outlook 2007 Messages limit

Hi
Have a problem with sending messages in bulk from Outlook 2007.

Need to email around 250 people in my running cub from a word mailmerge
doc, messages around 25k each.

Outlook will send only 15 at a time then an error message appears saying
server probs too much data. Then it seems to seize up after the first batch
and wont send any more, even after the 10minute send/recieve time starts
again

My ISP is O2 and they say they have a limit of 50 at a time which I could
cope with, so I dont think thats the problem, I have set the server timeout
to 5mins in Outlook but apart from that I am puzzled.

anybody have any ideas as to what the problem could be

Thanks

You might need to increase the server timeout to more than 5 minutes. Also,
is this a POP3 account? If so how often are you polling for new mail?

Do you have Service Pack 2 for Office 2007 installed?

What's the error message in full and how was it presented to you?
Outlook does not have a sending limit.
Could it be that you have reached their daily limit or limit per hour?

Also, do you have a virus scanner installed which integrates itself with
Outlook? Uninstall this integration part of your virus scanner and try
again; you'd still be sufficiently protected by your on-access scanner part
of the virus scanner. For more details see;

One solution is to use a mail merge add-in that can throttle your messages.

I've used Mail Merge Toolkit from MAPILab in the past for that purpose.

My hunch would be that the ISP's documentation does not reflect actual
limits, which are likely set to 15 instead of 50.

All updates installed.
Timeout now set from 5 to 10mins

Error message comes up in the Outlook send /recieve status window.

Will be sending another 150 later today so will try and make a note of
complete error message and report back

Thanks

Have spoken to an O2 manager and they are saying there is a limit of 50
messages in a 3 hour period to combat spam.

Not happy but at least I know whats happening and how to work around it.

Thanks everyone

Hi Leonid,

I just downloaded a trial copy of mailmerge toolkit, but I do not see whereyou can throttle the emails. I have my Outlook paired up with Amazon SES, so I don't have any 50 email max issues, but I do want to still keep my emails from sending more than 200-250 per hour.

Could you please describe how you went about doing that?

Thanks
