Outlook 2007 Mail

I just began using outlook and set it up for mail. I receive mail with no
problem, however, when I try to send an email, it does not send. I called COX
to be sure I had the right POP and STP.

There does not seem to be a troubleshooting section in Outlook 2007.

I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.

The first thing to do is to test the Account Settings. Do Tools-Email
Accounts, highlight the account and click on "Change". On the box that
appears there is a "Test Account Settings" button. Click it, and post back
with any error message in FULL please.

You say what doesn't happen but you don't say what does happen and that's
much more important. Exactly what happens when you try to send a message?
Any errors? If so, what is their exact text? Does the message sit in the
Outbox? Does it move to the Sent Items folder? It's hard to help solve a
problem with no details.

Brian, nothing happens when I try to send the message. No error message. My
email message stays in the outbox, does not move to the sent box. It just
sits there.
However, when I check my account and send a test email, it works.

Does the message in the Outbox have a time stamp and is it's header line in
italics?. Do yo have more than one account?

I use an account for my email and seperate account for my calendar. I am
really getting confused because when I opened my email account this am, the
email was in the sent box. So I tried another test email. That one is just
sitting there. There is a date and time stamp in italics and the outbox
folder has a [1] next to it.

I clicked on the test message and tried sending it again, Same as above. Not
sent.

Is this a WIndows Live account, then?

You don't open an email account.. You open folders.

If the "1" is in parentheses and blue (which is what I think you meant), it
means there's an unread message in the Outbox and this is normal for a
message waiting to be sent. If it's really in green and brackets (which is
what you typed), it just means there's a total of one message in the Outbox,
whether unread or not. I wouldn't have expected brackets. Perhaps you're
not being precise in stating what you see and are doing.

Not
sent.

Use the Field Chooser to add the "E-mail Account" column to the header line
and see if it's being sent on the account you expect.
