Outlook 2007 is Verrryy slow. Every so often, it crashes, for no apparent
reason. So far today, it has crashed twice, both times when I was switching
from one email to the next.

The two event log entries for today are:-
1.ID: 6, Application Name: Microsoft Office Outlook, Application Version:
12.0.6014.5000, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.4518.1014. This session lasted
3995 seconds with 600 seconds of active time. This session ended with a
crash.

and 2:ID: 6, Application Name: Microsoft Office Outlook, Application
Version: 12.0.6014.5000, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.4518.1014. This
session lasted 3995 seconds with 600 seconds of active time. This session
ended with a crash.

The hotfix you refer to is already applied. I gather from reviewing the
history of this issue, that Microsoft are still working on a more permanent
solution for the slowness. It may be that that solution will also put a stop
to the frequent crashes - but right now, I am NOT holding my breath on that.

Hope that someone else here can help out with that issue.

There are so many different things to t/shoot with an unidentified crash it's
difficult to know where to start. You could try disabling any non-standard
add-ins, if that works for long enough to convince you it's made a
difference, start adding them back one by one until you find the culprit.

You could also try SCANPST if you run from a PST file, or re-building your
OST if you use an Exchange mailbox in cached mode. You should also try
creating a new mail profile to test with.

All those are pretty much shots in the dark though... but good luck and I
hope one of them helps or someone else has a better answer!
