Outlook 2007 Error Message

Receiving the following message: A data file did not close properly the last
time i was used and is being checked for problems. Performance might be
affected while the check is in place. It's been a couple hours and the system
will not let me open Outlook even in Safe Mode? Any suggestions for this
problem. It is very annoying. Although I am able to check my email online.

Outlook 2007 appears to be highly susceptible to add-in side-effects and
will often remain running when you think it has been closed. use Task
Manager to make sure the OUTLOOK.EXE process is not running before trying to
start it again in Safe mode. In fact, it wouldn't hurt to reboot your PC.
If Outlook runs in safe mode after a reboot, disable all your add-ins and
try it in normal mode. If it works, you know it's an add-in and selective
enabling should allow you to determine which one.

Google Desktop Search can also evince the side-effects you describe and I
wouldn't be surprised if Windows Desktop Search is suspect as well.

Brian, I have a similar problem, but I do get into Outlook after a few
minutes. I suspect Google Desktop. The question is, how do I fix the
problem?

Uninstall Google Desktop Search and see if the problem goes away.

Brian, Thank you. I removed Google Desktop, at first it did not seem to work
because the message persisted. After rebooting twice and restarting Outlook
a few times, the error message has gone away.
