Outlook 2007 e-mail address display format

Hi,

I really dislike the way Outlook 2007 displays e-mail addresses in e-
mails and contacts. In the "To" header, for instance, it usually only
shows the display name but not the actual address.

In contrast, in a contact form, it will only show the address but not
the display name (unless you double click on the address).

Also, when sending mail to a contact that has multiple addresses, the
popdown menu that shows all the available addresses only shows the
display name. If the same display name is used for multiple addresses,
there's no clear way of distinguishing which is which...

It would be a lot clearer if Outlook would try to be less clever and
just show me the full e-mail address (both display name and address)
in all instances. Most other e-mail clients I've used do this.

Is there any way to get Outlook to do this?

Thanks!

You cannot change the default format for the Email Display As field.
Microsoft has changed it in response to user requests. You can change each
manually for each Contact record if it really matters that much to you. The
current default format seems to meet everyone else's needs since it uses
both familiar name and electronic address.

It would have been nice to have it as an advanced option in the
settings somewhere. Microsoft seems to have really reduced the
customization abilities with this release of Office. While it may
suite "everyone else" I'd still like to have the option to make it
work the way I like.

In any case, you said it's possible to change the display format for e-
mail address on individual contacts? How do I do that?

Thanks!

You are mistaken. None of that has changed with this version of Office.
When you open a Contact Record, do you see the "Display As" field? There you
go.
