Outlook 2007 Doesn't Move to Next Message Deleting IMAP Message

When you delete a message in the IMAP Inbox folder, you see a line
through the message buy Outlook does not move to the next message
despite the setting that I made that Outlook should do so.

Makes it cumbersome reading IMAP.

Bug?
 
Not a bug, a "feature" of an IMAP account. Windows Mail and Windows Live
Mail behave the same way.

I wonder why anyone would *want* this behavior?
