Outlook 2007 crawls under Vista solution

My broadband speed is correct but email download into Outlook 2007 slowed to
a crawl after I installed Vista. I discovered the problem was caused by the
Norton Anti-Spam feature in the Add-on Pack for Norton Internet Security
2007. Disabling this feature was not enough. I had to uninstall it. This
Add-on Pack is the newly posted Vista compatible version. If this problem
occurs with other anti-spam software then perhaps it is a bug in Vista?

Norton even with XP causes problems like this. Sometimes it works great, and
sometimes it is a nightmare. Norton (and McAfee) hook into the system in
ways they should NEVER do, and can cause problems from network performance
problems in general to numerous mail sending and receiving issues.

Norton is a very bad solution, look for others, even free ones like AVG that
are less intrusive to the system and do just what they are supposed to do
instead of screwing with parts of the OS that they shouldn't be touching
like Norton and McAfee do.

Good Luck...

Get rid of Norton from your computer. You don't need their bloated, memory
hungry, resource hog driven software. It causes more problems that it
solves. Best to get AVG Free or Avast. You will be happier and your system
will run better.

Avast is the best AV. Why pay Norton, Trend Micro, etc, for junk, when you
can have the best for free!

I tried reinstalling the Norton Add-on pack just for the adware blocking and
did not allow it to put an anti-spam toolbar into Outlook 2007. It still
slowed my Inbox email download to a crawl. Outlook 2007 returned to normal
after I again uninstalled the Norton Internet Security 2007 Add-on Pack. I
hope this information will be of use to others.
