Outlook 2007 - contact notes don't show up

It seems that whatever is entered in the Notes field of a Contact does
not show up in the Notes column of Phone List view, nor does it appear
in VCF exports or CSV exports.

Did you add the Notes field to the Phone List view? It's not included by default. Or turn on AutoPreview, which is off by default?

Looks like the export and .vcf file problem may be a bug in the Beta 2 build.

Yes I did add the Notes field to the Phone List view. I'm not using
AutoPreview.

Another thing I notice is if I modify a Note field (say add a space to
the beginning) and save the Contact, the entire Note field is empty
upon re-opening.

If Notes aren't working, is there a way to have User Fields 1 through 4
appear in the General Contact view?

I cannot duplicate your problem with Notes in the Phone List view or with modifying the notes in an existing contact. What operating system are you using -- Windows XP or Vista?

You can certainly add the user fields to the Phone List or Address Cards view.

I'm using XP. It doesn't happen with editing newly created contacts,
but when editing old contacts created in previous versions.
You can certainly add the user fields to the Phone List or Address Cards view.

I was wondering whether the default contact display (when you open a
contact or import a VCF) could show the User Fields.

I have same issue

I solved the issue... by uninstalling Office Beta 2007. I like my
contact notes to work.

I have same issue

Aloha (e-mail address removed),

Well...Beta software is rarely a good choice for mission-critical needs. :-)

All fields are visible on the All Field page. If you want to see them on other pages, you can customize the form the traditional way (see http://www.outlookcode.com/d/forms.htm) or use the new form region feature to customize it.
