Outlook 2003 - wrong contacts

B

Boon

If I click on the To or CC box when composing a message, a 'Select Names'
dialog comes up with a list of contacts. However this list is not coming
from my Outlook contacts. It is an older, out of date list of contacts from
before my upgrade from Office XP to 2003.

The option in Internet properties is to use Microsoft Office Outlook for the
contact list.

In the select names dialog, the combo box in the top right 'show names from
the' defaults to 'contacts', this lists the wrong contacts; the option
'outlook address book' lists no contacts at all.

If I type a name directly into the To box, Outlook resolves this from the
proper Outlook contacts list.

In Outlook Newsreader, i.e. Outlook Express, the correct contacts are listed
under 'shared contacts'.

This is very confusing. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this

Upgrading Outlook often loses the connection between Outlook and the Outlook
Address Book service. Go to Tools->Email Accounts->Directories->View or
Change. Does the Outlook Address Book Service show there? If not, back up
one step and use the option to Add - then add the service, close down and
reopen Outlook.

Thanks for the tip, but no joy. The Outlook Address Book Service is there. I
even tried removing and then re-adding it, to no avail.

Then right click on each of your contact folders and ensure under its
properties, that it is enabled as an Outlook Address Book.

That is selected. The contacts are not displayed as a
folder, however. I must click on the contacts panel in
the bottom left and go to File>Folder>Properties for
Contacts... Were you expecting that I would see something
else?
