Outlook 2003/Word 2002 problem

B

Bill Mayo

We have just installed Outlook 2003 over an Office XP/2002
installation. When trying "Send as email" from Word, get
the following error:

"Word could not load the e-mail envelope. This could be
caused by a network connection problem or a problem with
your Office installation."

I haven't found any technet articles that seem to apply.
Note: Sending as attachment does work.

Thanks for any help.

You can't use Wordmail when your versions don't match.
You'll have to turn off Word as your editor.

While I have never seen this error when trying to use WordMail, it may be
caused by the fact that in order to use WordMail, the versions of Word and
Outlook must match. By updating Outlook to 2003 but not updating Word to
2003, you've broken using Word to compose messages.

Within Outlook, Wordmail is turned off. Am I correct in
understanding you to say that sending a regular mail
through Word uses this functionality, and that with the
mismatched versions, there is no way for this to work?

That is my understanding. Many seem to have confirmed it.
