Outlook 2003 won't let me past the e-mail setup to initialize

I have just installed MSOffice 2003, with all the downloaded updates. When I
open Outlook to set it up as my mail server, it says that it cannot find a
connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server, even though I'm connected to the
Internet. When I type in my e-mail address, Outlook won't recognize it . I
get the error: "The file C:/Documents and Settings/Barbara Abbott/Local
Settings/Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook/outlook.ost is not an offline
folder file." When I close the error message box, I am closed out of
Outlook altogether. I cannot get in to use the other functions, like the
calendar, or to set anything up, because it keeps locking me out. How can I
get Outlook to recognize that it is connected to the Internet (Microsoft
Exchange Server) so that I can get it to open up?

'Control Panel|Mail|E-mail Accounts|View or change existing email accounts',
select "Microsoft Exchange Server", and click the "Remove" button. ISPs
generally don't use Exchange Servers for public mail; unless you have an
Exchange Server at work that you use, you don't need this service in your
profile
