Outlook 2003 with pop3 and exchange

I have a problem, I have an exchange server and pop3 accounts working
directly to the outside pop3 server from outlook. When I try sending
mail to multiple users of which some are internal and some external the
program sends all the messages through the external pop3 account. My
question is:

is there any way of setting the program or the exchange server to relay
the messages depending on the recipent ??

played around with different options and when i toggled from html format
to plain text format, it fixed the issue for now
