Outlook 2003 Wants to connect to a LDAP Server. Why?

R

Rob Schneider

Been using Outlook 2003 for about 6 weeks now. For first time (with no
change on my part that I am aware of), when starting Outlook it
apparently trys to connect to an LDAP server as it presents a dialog box
asking to confirm the technical info about that server.

I don't have an LDAP server. I don't have any configuration that I know
of to connect to a LDAP server. I can't find where to turn off attempt
to connect to a LDAP server.

How can I clear this error? And what is the root cause?

Somehow you must have added the service. To remove it;
Tools-> E-mail Accounts...-> option to view/change existing Address Books or
Address Lists-> select the LDAP account and press the Delete button.

Thanks ... I have absolutely no recollection of adding this account.
Very strange.

Indeed, there was an Active Directory in the "Address Books" section of
accounts. Since I never went there, I didn't look there when looking
for what the problem was. (Obvious that I should have, though... duh,
as Homer says).

That cleared the problem. Why it was a problem in the first place is a
mystery.

I bet you didn't install clean. You probably installed over Outlook 2000
IMO. Ick.
