Outlook 2003 synchronizing with the offline file (.ost)

Nick

Hallo,

since a week i cannot synchronize the MailBox on the Exchange Server with
the local offline file .ost (Outlook 2003).

At 05. July 2004, 12:30 AM is finished the synchronisation. Oll the items
bevor are synchronised. All items after cannot be synchronised. In the
synchronization-log is the following error:

08:52:07 Error synchronizing folder
08:52:07 [80004005-501-FFFFF9BF-550]
08:52:07 The client operation failed.

I tryed everything. (new ost-file, new Profil, started scanost.exe). Nothing
helped.
OST-check-log from scanost.exe contents the same error message and a list of
e-mails that are not in the offline file.

The Files (ems*32.dll) from the help-info from Microsoft cannot be find
(perhaps because of the Outlook Version?!)

I use 2 Laptops with Windows XP, SP1, Uptodated from Microsoft-Update site,
Office 2003. The Ost-File is aprox: 800000KB. Freespace on drive C: aprox:
23GB)

Does somebody know a solution for this problem?
Thank you in advance.

Best regards.

Hello,

I am having the same prblem. Offline Sync was working
but now "Inbox" offline will only sync with emails dated
before a certain date.
I followed all instructions and even created a new OST
but nothing works. Client is XP and server is EX2000.
FYI, The user has 2GB of mail in server.

If, in fact, you have 2Gb of data in your mail box, you have a problem. OL
2002 (you did say your client was Office XP, which includes Outlook 2002,
even though the subject of the thread names Outlook 2003). PSTs and OSTs
can't exceed 1.83 Gb without corruption. You need to move some of the items
on your server to PSTs and reduce your server usage so that the OST syncing
creates is below the size limit.
