Outlook 2003 Stops the computer from closing properly

I am running XP home edition (SP3), Recently my when shutting down my
computer, a message comes up saying the computer must end MS Outlook 2003
(even though it is already closed), It goes through the process, but just
hangs. I then have to manually push end program. Any idea’s how to stop this
from happening?

I have disable Trend antivirus addin.

The outlook GUI has closed, but the process is still running in the
background
If you were to look in Task Manager, running Processes Tab you would find
outlook.exe still running.
Its usually caused by a miss behaving Outlook Add-in, often Anti Virus
software intergrated with Outlook
If you have intergrated AV, then initially try uninstalling the AV,
rebooting, then recheck that outlook closes properly

Thankyou. I tried this but it did not work. It appears if I close the
computer straight after I close outlook the issue arises. If I close outlook
first and wait two minutes then close the computer I do not have a problem.

So I don’t think all of the outlook components are closing straight away.

I have been keeping a close eye on this issue. Sometimes it will close ok and
other times I close outlook 5 or 10 minutes before shuting down the computer
and I have the same problem of some components of outlook are still running.

Any other surgestions?

Then possibly one of the outlook add-ins is miss behaving.
You have run scanpst.exe against the data files, that you usually have open
within outlook? (Only run when you are sure OL has fully closed)
