Outlook 2003 slow to open attached files

Hi there,

We have a problem with Outlook 2003. When we are about to open an
attached file (.doc and .xls only) it is very slow.

There's what i've done so far :

- Reset IE settings (Advance tab)

- Delete the regkey HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows
\current version\internet settings\zone map\

- Deactive Outlook addins (components)

- Run Outlook in safe mode

- Rename the outcmd.dat file et reboot

- Remove the update KB931768 patch

- Delete .OST

With all that, it just cut the time in half, instead of taking 30
seconds to open a file, it takes now 11 seconds.

Do you guys have any clue what's happening ????

Thanks

What antivirus solution are you running and does it hook into the Office
applications? (e.g. Older Norton products had an officeav.dll that could
cause slowness issues.)

We have Norton Antivirus Corporate 10 installed.

Yes Auto-Protect is enabled.

I tried to disable it, but it still slow to open .doc and .xls
files....

The next thing i will to do is to install the Norton Antivirus 11
Corporate.

Thanks for the quick reply.
