There is a "psudo" folder that apparently holds word
attachments that are opened from email attachments within
outlook2003.
When users open an attached word document directly from
within an email message and use file save as to save the
document later the default location to save the files is
c:\documents and settings\(user account)\local
Settings\temporary internet files\OLK??? Where ??? is
some number or character string. The saveas dialouge
typically shows several word documents in the folder
entries but they cannot be opened, saved or deleted.
Using the internet explorer tools delete temporary
internet files feature has no apparent effect. How and
why are these here. It is annoying that the user cannot
save to the folder yet they are presented with a folder
that appears to be usable and appears to contain many
previously viewed word documents that cannot be accesed
or deleted. Doing a search of the C: drive with all
hidden folders and files showing doesn't reveal the
documents. Opening the folder directly doesn't allow you
to see any directory entries....
I miss the "old" simple days when a file was a file and a
folder was a folder and you could access it through
explorer and the DOS prompt....
So has anyone seen this and cleaned it up successfully?
Has anyone here sucessfully made it so save as doesn't
bring up an unusable folder in this situation?
